Motley Crue: Back to The Carnival

A Live Review

The summer heatwave was already working overtime in Noblesville, Indiana, but when Motley Crue took the stage, things got considerably hotter.

The Indiana stop marked the end of the second leg of the tour, but this run is more than just another tour for the legendary rockers. It’s a return to one of their most iconic eras: The Carnival of Sins.

Originally running from 2005 to 2006, the Carnival of Sins Tour was equal parts rock show and spectacle. Bringing it back decades later, and somehow the revival hasn’t felt like a nostalgia run. It feels fresh. And perhaps most notably, they sound better than they have in years.

One of the biggest surprises of this tour has been the setlist. Crue has dug deeper into their catalog. Tracks from Shout at the Devil made a comeback, including “Red Hot,” and “Too Young to Fall in Love.” They also included “Afraid,’ a track from their 1997 album, Generation Swine. They included the classics of course, closing out the night with “Dr. Feelgood,” and “Kickstart My Heart.”

The evening also featured opening acts, Extreme and Tesla. Together the lineup felt like a celebration of an era when rock was loud, theatrical, and unapologetic.

Motley Crue has brought it back, and judging by the roar of the crowd in Noblesville, Indiana, there are still plenty of people willing to buy a ticket to the circus.

The Carnival of Sins is back. And the Crue still knows how to put on one hell of a show.
